Interview – Aaron Bartuska writer/director of For Roger

Next up in our pre Grimmfest interviews is an interview with Aaron Bartuska the writer/director of feature For Roger which is appearing as part of Grimmfest’s virtual festival.

For Roger is Bartuska’s feature debut and was his senior project at college. Roger (Michael Andrusiewicz) is mourning the recent loss of his fiancee  Clara (Jenna Gibilisco). Travelling to the remote hunting lodge that he and Clara used to visit he re-visits their relationship through old DV tapes of them together. But in reviewing the tapes Roger realises that his relationship with Clara was very different from what he remembered. Also, someone seems to be stalking him.

Shot in 4:3 ratio For Roger is a really intriguing look at relationships, the importance of communication and the power of grief. It cleverly inverts classic slasher tropes to create a refreshingly unique horror movie.

Aaron joined us to talk about his experience working on the film.

For Roger is part of Virtual Grimmfest and you can buy tickets for it here.
